Port Facilities updated on 12 31 2005, Sat

The network of motorways, railways, waterways and pipelines turn the port of Constantza into the ideal multimodal transport centre for any type of cargo bound for various destinations.
Millions of tons of cargo moving annually through Constantza are carried from or to hinterland markets and end-consumers.
Fast, reliable and efficient transportation of goods is rendered at European standards on the eastward-westward commercial axis. Port infrastructure is connected to the Pan-European Transport Corridors defined at the Pan-European Transport Conference in Helsinki in 1997 and supported by the EU: river Corridor no. VII and railroad Corridor no. IV as well as the "TRACECA" Corridor.

Starting with 25 august 2003 the entire territory of the Port of Constantza has become a port with customs facilities.

In the present, all the operators having in administration facilities within the Romanian maritime ports Constantza, Midia, Mangalia and Tomis marina are in compliance with the provisions of the ISPS Code.

Following the Law no. 342/2004 , Constantza South & Basarabi Free Zone Administration has been taken over by the National Company "Maritime Ports Administration" SA Constantza starting with 1 Octomber 2004.

Starting with April 2004 a new container terminal became operational in the south part of Constantza Port, on Pier II S. This is the main container terminal in the Black Sea area, a potential terminal for transit traffic on the Danube and a logistic zone in the Port of Constantza.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development is lending Romania's Port of Constantza 16 million Euro to help construct a new barge terminalto improve efficiency at the Black Sea's largest port. This is the first loan without state guarantee for the transport sector.
